At Easington Church of England Primary Academy our curriculum is designed to: inspire enthusiasm for learning, build on achievement and support pupil well-being and happiness to allow our learners a safe environment within which to flourish.
As a Church of England school, Christian values underpin all that we do. We provide a rich and stimulating learning environment based on our four core Christian values of :
Thankfulness, Respect, Compassion and Friendship
We recognise that we are educating children for an unrecognisable future and in order to be prepared for this we identified the following golden threads which are woven throughout our broad and balanced Curriculum:
Our Golden Threads through our curriculum
Foster curiosity.
Learn to disagree respectfully.
Be open to another way.
Find your wonderful – ambition and self worth
Within our inclusive environment our curriculum allows all children to ensure that Equity, Curiosity and Ambition are nurtured.
“A community working in harmony to achieve our God – given potential.”
…It is inspired by John 10:10:
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
At Easington Primary Academy, we live out our curriculum intent in Art and Design by encapsulating creative thinking as well as creativity. It embraces evaluative processes, self-improvement and self-expression. Experimentation is greatly encouraged and through discussion and evaluation, the children become equipped to ask exploratory questions, develop their critical thinking and form opinions on their own work and that of others. This alongside our Easington ‘Golden Threads’, equips our children for their transition into secondary school and empowers them to become creative, confident and evaluative artists.
Our Art and Design curriculum is supported by the Kapow resource and engages, inspires and challenges pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. Our curriculum teaches children about colour theory by studying the colour wheel and exploring mixing tints, shades and tones throughout Nursery, Foundation, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two to allow pupils to expand on previous learning. This allows them to evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design. We aim to give pupils every opportunity to develop their ability, nurture their interests, express their ideas and thoughts about the world as well as learning about art and artists across cultures and through history.
